It is no surprise that women all over the world get empowered just by listening to songs that will give them the push that they need in order for them to get back on track and not lose that drive in them. Because of this, a lot of female artists like Rihanna gives inspiration to many women because of the songs that she makes. I am one of those people who sees her as a beacon of light, especially with all the help that she has given to the young generation. She is not the type to stoop down her level, and she handles her scandals and issues with grace. This is what makes her perfect as a female artist, who is an embodiment of female empowerment for millions of girls and women from different countries.
There's no reason for us to second-think her capability because, as cheesy as it sounds, she really helped a lot of people throughout the years. Especially with all her help and donations to different organizations and Universities, people really do admire her for what she has done. She is living proof that even if you're billionaire, she doesn't keep it all for herself. Instead, she gives what she could because she knows in herself that she owes it to all of her fans who support her no matter what.
Some may think of it as a sexual connotation but it can also mean that you can be under her protection, hence the "under my umbrella" lyric.
2. What's My Name feat. Drake
Others think that this is about a love story between two artists, but some have their own theories too. One example is that she is questioning herself in a country which consists of mostly white people.
3. You Da One
Everyone wants a stable relationship. If you're that type of person, this song is perfect for you.
4. Russian Roulette
For a lot of people, this may be a sad song. But for me, it conveys a message of being calm and in peace with your inner demons.
5. California King Bed
One significant meaning of this song is why does she feel like there is a wall between them after everything they have gone through together.
6. Rehab feat. Justin Timberlake
In this song, she is going through a break-up and the only way to get through her heartache is to go to "Rehab". Even if he left her with a lot of pain, she still wants to stand up and move on because she's doing it for herself.
This track (in collaboration with Kendrick Lamar) emphasizes the meaning of loyalty. Being faithful is very important in a relationship too. You don't want to lose the trust a girl has given you. Right?
8. The Monster feat. Eminem
For me, this song means accepting the skeletons inside her closet. Even though people try to help her, she still wants to stand on her own. Even if it means that some people may think that she is crazy
